There are many crosswalks where blind spots exist (this is especially important to relay to middle grade students). If you have a walker or biker in the household, please remind them of their responsibility as well to stop and look before proceeding into a crosswalk. Are you fully stopping and assessing sidewalk traffic before evaluating the roadway? Indeed, it’s necessary at many stops to inch into the crosswalk to safely see the road, but please stop to assess the crosswalk traffic first, before inching forward. Take a moment to be honest about your own driving habits. With daylight savings upon us, our students and families will be out and about even more. South Tampa traffic is getting worse and the streets surrounding our schools are becoming popular thoroughfares. Families and neighbors - Your neighborhood schools have partnered together to address a growing concern: speeding through the neighborhoods and not properly stopping at crosswalks.
